National Award-winning film editor A. Sreekar Prasad has collaborated with ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam on a number of big notable films, including the upcoming Ponniyin Selvan: 2. Set to open in grand style in theatres worldwide on April 28, the acclaimed editor recently sat down for an exclusive interview with Galatta to talk about the epic historical action adventure venture, and his partnership with Mani Ratnam over the years, while also opening up on how meticulous the director has been in making each of his films. Sreekar Prasad said, "With Mani Ratnam itself, it's not very easy to work if you're not on the same wavelength. But, I've been traveling with him for quite sometime. I know what he's thinking and how he looks at cinema. So, it's easy. And then, when he says something, it is just not because he's the director, but, it's for the betterment of the product. He or Rajamouli or anybody for that matter. So, when they give such a feedback about something missing in the frame and when you give it a thought, maybe you will come out with something better. And, that's how we healthily we go about it instead of feeling it as a strain."
Sreekar Prasad went on to talk about Ponniyin Selvan: 2 and said, "Now, PS: 2 is going to get released, but one shot of it, we want to improve something. That discussion was going on even half an hour before. Right now. So, it is only the passion of the filmmakers to make it better. When the 0.00001 percentage of the whole thing comes on the screen, which the audience doesn't notice, it's there for permanency. For posterity, you're making a film. So, you better give it all that you have before you release it. That's the concept."
