Ajith’s Mankatha is a very special film for the fans and it was nothing short of celebration. The film was directed by Venkat Prabhu who made sure there were enough moments for the fans to be entertained and it was a fun commercial entertainer. Yuvan Shankar Raja’s powerful music and Venkat Prabhu’s super engaging screenplay made Mankatha a memorable outing for Ajith. Ever since the success of the film, the fans have been eagerly waiting to know if Mankatha 2 will happen with Ajith. Having said that, director Venkat Prabhu recently opened up about the possibilities of doing Mankatha 2 with Ajith.

Talking to senior journalist Latha Srinivasan in an Instagram live session, Venkat Prabhu said, “Wherever I go, the fans ask me about Mankatha 2. I had an idea after the release of Mankatha and me and Ajith sir have discussed about it. After the blockbuster success of Mankatha, we discussed about various other subjects as well, but both of us got busy in our own ways as we had other commitments. The last time when we met, he told me that he wants to do something fun and entertaining. He said he was tired of doing action films continuously (‘Epo paathalum sanda pottu oora kapathitrukom’) and wanted some sort of difference.

He wanted to do something that is full of fun vibes. He is currently working on Valimai and I’m working on Maanaadu. Ajith sir has a practice that he follows strictly. He doesn’t commit another film before completing the ongoing one. Ajith sir only has to say if Mankatha 2 will happen and it is purely his decision. He will take a decision on his next project only when his current project is close to completion. So, let us wait for Valimai to reach its finishing stages. Maybe, at that time, let us see if it is going to be Mankatha 2 or some other project.” Well, it looks like this might come as a good update for Ajith fans who were waiting to know about Mankatha 2.

Currently, Venkat Prabhu is busy with Maanaadu which stars STR in the lead role. This political drama features an ensemble star cast including S.J.Surya, Bharathiraja, S.A.Chandrasekhar, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Karunakaran, Premgi Amaran and others. The shooting of the film is currently stalled due to the pandemic and it will resume when everyone is declared safe.
