Kolamaavu Kokila is one of the biggest hits in Lady Superstar Nayanthara's career and it got a very positive reception from the general audience. The film was directed by Nelson Dilipkumar who is currently making Doctor with Sivakarthikeyan. The film had cinematography by Sivakumar Vijayan and editing by R Nirmal. The film's story deals with Kokila (Nayanthara) who gets involved in a drug racket to earn money to save her mother's life. The latest exciting update is that the film is all set to be remade in Kannada. Yes! Actress Rachita Ram is touted to play the protagonist, reprising Nayanthara's role. RJ turned director Mayuraa Raghavendra of Kannad Gothilla fame will be directing this remake. Talking to Cinema Express, director Mayuraa was quoted as saying, "The talks are just in the initial stages. We are in discussions with Lyca for the remake rights, and it is just a matter of closing the deal. We want everything to get confirmed before making an official announcement, and that's when we will reveal the producers, cast and crew."

It is said that the makers will fine tune the script slightly to suit the taste of the Kannada audience. According to reports, Rachita Ram was highly impressed with the film and that is when she expressed her interest to act in the film's Kannada remake.
