The first official trailer for Marvel Studios' next big venture, Thor: Love and Thunder, is now out and is visually striking from the get-go as bright as lightning in a dark sky. The trailer debuted at the NBA Eastern Conference Finals on Monday evening and gives us an extended glimpse at Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster wielding Chris Hemsworth's Mjolnir, while also introducing Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher. We also witness Hemsworth's Thor undergoing a transformation from "dad bod to God bod" after the events of Avengers: Endgame. The Thor: Love and Thunder trailer also blends various mythologies, including the Norse god paying a visit to Olympus to come across Zeus played by Russell Crowe along with Tessa Thompson’s King Valkyrie seen taking on Bale's Gorr with a thunderbolt in her hand. There's also the moment where Thor is stripped by Crowe's Zeus, with the Norse god towards the end wielding his father Odin's Stormbreaker, which now has a handle from Guardians of the Galaxy member Groot's arm.

The Thor: Love and Thunder trailer packs in a punch and in the right proportions to leave fans wanting for more and the retro look and tone adopted by director Taika Waititi has only added to the excitement. Set to open in cinemas worldwide on July 8, the upcoming superhero film is said to be the direct sequel to 2017's Thor: Ragnarok and has been produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum. Thor: Love and Thunder is the 29th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and is a part of Phase Four in the franchise, which kicked off last year with Black Widow and was followed up with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, Spider-Man: No Way Home and most recently Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Apart from Thor: Love and Thunder, the other upcoming films in Phase Four of the MCU include Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and The Marvels, including Fantastic Four
