The Best of Tamil Cinema launch: Live updates

There are many books in market which talk about the growth and history of Indian Cinema. But comparatively, definitive books on Tamil Cinema (which is in its golden age now) are few, and mainly in Tamil only. Keeping this in mind, G. Dhananjayan, Chief -- South Film Business of UTV Motion Pictures along with Galatta Media have brought out 'The Best of Tamil Cinema: 1931 to 2010', a 650 plus pages book (designed and published by Galatta Media) that covers details of blockbusters of Tamil Cinema from 1931 to 2010, from the first Tamil talkie Kalidas (1931) to Nandhalala (2010). It narrates the journey and growth of the industry through a period of eight decades. Volume I presents the best films released between 1931 and 1976, while Volume II deals with the period between 1977 and 2010.

The book launch (today) is turning out to be a grand affair. The guests of honour for the event include actors Kamal Haasan, Sivakumar, Parthiban, Sarathkumar, directors Mahendra, Balu Mahendra, K. Bhagyaraj, S.M. Vasanth, Cheran, Thangar Bachan, Lingusamy, Selvaraghavan, Ameer, Karu Palaniappan and Mysskin.
