It's official - the much-awaited Varisu OST composed by blockbuster music director Thaman. S will be out on August 17 at 12 p.m., blockbuster producer-distributor Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations has announced. The original soundtrack of the 'Thalapathy' Vijay-starrer directed by Vamshi Paidipally has been long-awaited ever since the film was released as a grand Pongal treat in theatres in January this year. SVC in their announcement about the OST on X shared a poster of Vijay from the film and quoted lines from the 'Thee Thalapathy' song in their post that read, "Its time Its time to give it back maame Idhu thirupi idhu thirupi Kudukkum neram maame..🥁🥁🔥🔥 Get your speakers ready 😉 The highly anticipated #VarisuOST releasing on August 17th at 12PM 💥💥 #Varisu 🥳 (sic)".

The Varisu OST will include 22 tracks in total and is set to be Thaman's next big musical treat from the film, which included chart-topping hit songs, with fans now set to revisit the BGMs that rocked the cinemas earlier this year. The film's songs, especially 'Ranjithame', received a massive response, spawning cover versions by fans, including performances in reels, which went viral on social media. Apart from the presence of Vijay alongside an ensemble star cast that also included national sensation Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead and an engaging story and screenplay by director Vamshi Paidipally, Hari and Ahishor Solomon, Varisu was also powered by its music by Thaman, who hit the high note and built plenty of hype around the film leading up to its release.
The delay in the release of the Varisu OST had been due to Thaman's other film commitments, which the hit composer revealed earlier this month on X. The film is yet another feather in the cap for Vijay since it grossed more than 300 crores in worldwide box office collections kicking off 2023 in grand style for the Tamil film industry. Varisu also stars Sarathkumar, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Shaam, Srikanth, Khushbu, Yogi Babu, Jayasudha, Sangeetha Krish, Ganesh Venkatraman, VTV Ganesan among others in major supporting roles.
