'Superstar' Rajinikanth's Jailer is gearing up for a huge release this year and speculations are rife that the mass action entertainer being directed by Nelson Dilipkumar will be coming out in theatres in a grand manner in April. On Tuesday, January 17, Sun Pictures, the prestigious banner bankrolling the upcoming venture, announced the inclusion of popular Telugu actor Sunil, who was seen in a negative role in the nationwide box office blockbuster, Pushpa: The Rise, in 2021. Sun Pictures has also posted a photo of Sunil from the Jailer sets showing him looking to the side at a wide expanse akin to some of the previous pictures that have come out from the film.

Sunil now joins a huge ensemble star cast that features in Rajinikanth's Jailer among whom include superstars like Dr. Shivarajkumar from Kannada in a pivotal role, while Mohanlal from Malayalam is set to be making a cameo appearance. There is a huge buzz surrounding the film as not much has been revealed yet and the secrecy surrounding the story and plot has added to the excitement. Rajinikanth's Jailer is Sunil's third big film after he was first announced to be making his debut in Sivakarthikeyan's Maaveeran, followed by landing a big role in Karthi's Japan as well. As of now, the details about Sunil's role in Jailer remain unknown and fans will be expecting him to come up with yet another top-notch performance as he delivered in Allu Arjun's Pushpa. The Sun Pictures venture is carrying tremendous expectations as fans expect Rajinikanth to fire on all cylinders with his next after his Annaatthe in 2019 didn't receive favorable feedback critically although it went on to become a major commercial hit. Director Nelson Dilipkumar too is expected to come out all guns blazing after his Beast with 'Thalapathy' Vijay didn't fare as he would have hoped with the critics despite being a phenomenal box office success.
Jailer will see Rajinikanth as Muthuvel Pandian and sharing screen space with Ramya Krishnan once again after two decades when they starred together in the cult classic 1999 box office blockbuster Padayappa, while Taramani fame Vasanth Ravi, Yogi Babu, and Malayalam actor Vinayakan are appearing in key roles. Anirudh Ravichander is the music director of the film and this is the third time he has boarded a Rajinikanth venture after Petta (2019) and Darbar (2020), and fans await yet another cracker of an album from the chart-topping composer.
