'Thalapathy' Vijay's Varisu audio launch will be held on Saturday, December 24, the film's production banner Sri Venkateswara Creations has confirmed. The grand ceremony is held in front of the superstar's fans at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai and has been the talk of the town for a while now in light of the film's theatrical release in January 2023 for the festive occasion of Pongal. With the Varisu audio launch confirmed by the makers to be held this weekend, there has been considerable debate regarding whether it would be getting a live television telecast, with broadcasting giant Sun TV informing fans on social media on Wednesday about their plans ahead.

Taking to Twitter, Sun TV has announced that the Varisu audio launch will be "coming soon" along with a special poster of Vijay from a similar promotional event of his previous film. The leading Tamil channel's latest tweet doesn't specifically mention the date of the telecast, thus indicating the possibility of the audio launch not being shown live on television on the day the event will be taking place. There is also a lot of chatter on social media that the Varisu audio launch will get a television premiere on New Year's Day and an official announcement is now awaited. If indeed the Vijay-starrer's audio launch is shown as a New Year's Day treat, it will follow suit Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan: 1, which had a similar ceremony held earlier at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on September 6 and was later telecast on Sun TV three weeks later on September 25. Check out Sun TV's tweet about the Varisu audio launch below:

The excitement for the Varisu audio launch is massive considering it will be the first time in two years that Vijay will be addressing fans on the big stage after the Master audio launch back in 2021. The film has been directed by Vamshi Paidipally of Thozha and Maharshi fame under blockbuster Telugu producer Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations banner, while Lalit Kumar's 7 Screen Studio has acquired the upcoming family entertainer's Tamil Nadu theatrical rights. Varisu marks the first occasion that chart-topping South Indian music director Thaman. S has composed the songs and the background score for a Vijay-starrer. The film will also see Vijay and national sensation Rashmika Mandanna sharing screen space for the first time and there's massive excitement about their on-screen chemistry, which received a big double thumbs-up in the smash hit 'Ranjithame' song from the film released sometime back.
