'Thalapathy' Vijay's next big film, the tentatively titled Thalapathy 68, began rolling earlier this month after a formal pooja, with a video of the star-studded ceremony being released by the team last week. The upcoming venture is billed to be a "high-octane action film" and is being directed by blockbuster filmmaker Venkat Prabhu, with his frequent collaborator and celebrated music director Yuvan Shankar Raja composing the songs and the background score. With the first schedule of Thalapathy 68 already wrapped, popular Tamil lyricist Madhan Karky sat down for an exclusive interview with Galatta to share the first details of the lyrics of a song he has penned in the Vijay-starrer.

Expressing his happiness at writing the lyrics for a track in Thalapathy 68, Madhan Karky revealed how his songs in Vijay's previous films like 'Asku Laska' in Nanban (2012), 'Google Google' in Thuppakki (2012), and 'Selfie Pulla' in Kaththi (2014) gave him a big identity. He said, "I'm collaborating with him after a long time. It's an interesting song and has come out well. The song has already been shot. Venkat Prabhu is really fast. The beauty of working with Yuvan is that you'll not feel like you're working. He'll share a tune and explain the song's situation. I'll then write the lyrics and send them to him, and he'll inform me that the song's recording has been completed. I too will sometimes wonder if there are any corrections to be made, but he'll say nothing. He'll simply inform that the song has come out superbly and is nice."

Announced to open in cinemas in 2024, Thalapathy 68 will see Vijay paired with youth sensation Meenakshi Chaudhary, with Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Mohan, Jayaram, Laila, Sneha, Yogi Babu, Ajmal Amir, VTV Ganesh forming the core cast, while Venkat Prabhu's younger brother Premgi Amaren and their regular collaborators Vaibhav, Aravind Akash, and Ajay Raaj set to make appearances in pivotal roles.
