Leading Tamil actor Karthi's landmark 25th film, Japan, is all set for a grand opening in cinemas worldwide this Diwali in November, and fresh action-packed visuals are now out in the form of a trailer. The highly-anticipated crime comedy film directed by Raju Murugan of Cuckoo, Joker, and Gypsy fame, and featuring music composed by National Award winner G.V. Prakash Kumar starts off establishing Karthi's character as Japan, whose life in crime begins with petty theft during his childhood, before rising to the ranks of looting a jewelry store all by himself, which eventually leads to mammoth problems that extend into the political landscape.

The Japan trailer then shows how Karthi's actions have rattled the cages of the politicians, the gangster underworld, and the police department, with a massive manhunt launched for him by the authorities and third parties. Namma Veettu Pillai heroine Anu Emmanuel is cast as Japan's lover and we see her being tagged along in his escapade, with K. S. Ravikumar, Vagai Chandrasekar, and Sunil, among others forming the supporting cast. We see Karthi adopting a quirky voice modulation in Japan giving his character an extra edge, which varies in a vast manner from his roles in other films over the years.

There are plenty of commercial elements like action, comedy, and heists teased in the Japan trailer that will definitely appeal to audiences of all ages, and are factors that will draw audiences to cinemas in huge numbers, who will want to witness a proper and fully-packaged entertainer that can be enjoyed on the big screen. Announced to be coming out in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages, Japan is Karthi's fifth Diwali release after All in All Azhagu Raja (2013), Kaashmora (2016), Kaithi (2019), and Sardar (2022). Karthi will no doubt be coming out firing on all cylinders with Japan considering he is already on a phenomenal winning streak with four back-to-back hits starting with Viruman, Ponniyin Selvan: 1, and Sardar in 2022, and Ponniyin Selvan: 2, which was released earlier this year.
