Tara to join BJP

Tara considers herselfa socially-responsible person. She admitsshe is an admirer of the BJP and will campaign for them in the elections. "I’m not interested in contesting or becoming an MP. As an artist, I’ve contributed my best to the industry. Now, it’s time to do the same for the people of Karnataka,” says Tara.

She will be joining the BJP as an official party worker this week and will campaign for the party but made it clear that she will not be contesting in the election. “I’m not ready to enter politics just yet. I don’t know what the future holds. But, I don’t think I need to be in power to do something good for society,” she says.

So, why did she choose BJP? “It’s because it has a congenial atmosphere for women. The party has done a lot for women and child welfare. And it has lived up to the promises made in the manifesto,” Tara explains. “I’m not going to criticize the other parties. I’ll only stick to telling people about the developmental work undertaken by the ruling party. And I’ll also do my bit towards women’s empowerment and prevention of child labour,” she adds. She is also a great fan of Chief Minister Yedyurappa. "He’s a man who sticks to his word. I’ve met him on numerous occasions and have seen the way he functions. When we went to Association of Kannada Kootas of America (AKKA) recently, I got the opportunity to interact with him on a personal level, and all he kept talking about was the state’s development. I feel honoured that such a party even considered my name for the upcoming elections,” says the actress.
