Tamil short film nominated at the Asian Festival

AFFF is a prestigious festival that celebrates first-time film and documentary-makers and provides a platform for budding film talent. The festival attracted over 700 entries and Certain Chapters is the sole Tamil nominee out of the 30 nominees from 28 countries.� A short independent Tamil film, Certain Chapters (Sila Atthiyayangal) directed by Singaporean Abbas Akbar reveals the world of Indian gangsters in Singapore. Due to its gang theme and explicit use of coarse language, the film has been rated R21 (Restricted to persons aged 21 & above) in Singapore.

AFFF’s impressive debut in 2005 as the world’s first Asian festival for first films attracted the attention of the global media and also pointed to a sign of growing distributor and investor confidence in Asian first films. The winners of the Asian Festival of 1st Films (AFFF) will be announced at the AFFF 2009 Gala Dinner in Singapore on December 4th.
