Swaralaya-Kairali-Yesudas awards announced

Leading playback singer Shreya Ghoshal, well-known for her Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, Assamese, Marathi and Punjabi songs, was selected for this year’s Swaralaya-Kairali-Yesudas award, instituted by the Kairali-Swaralaya-Yesudas Trust.

Renowned singer Lata Mangeshkar will be presented a special award for her overall contribution in a career spanning nearly seven decades.

The awards were announced by jury chairman and former Kerala Minister M.A. Baby and Kairali TV executive director P.R. Ajayan at a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday.

The 'Swaralaya' award carries a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh, memento and citation, while the special award comprises a cash component of Rs. 2 lakhs, memento and citation. The awards will be presented at a function to be held in Thiruvananthapuram in September.
