Soorarai Pottru is a 2020 film written and directed by Sudha Kongara and produced by Guneet Monga and Suriya under the banner of 2D Entertainment. The film stars Suriya, Aparna Balamurali, and Paresh Rawal while Mohan Babu, Urvashi, and Karunas are seen playing supporting roles. The music was composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, while cinematography and editing were handled by Niketh Bommireddy and Sathish Suriya respectively.

Soorarai Pottru received critical acclaim, with praise for the major technical aspects of the film, along with an appreciation for the writing, Suriya's performance, and Sudha's direction. It was selected as one among ten Indian films to be screened under the Best Foreign Film category at the 78th Golden Globe Awards. The film was also screened at the 93rd Academy Awards but did not make it to the list of nominations. The film also entered the Panorama Section of the Shanghai International Film Festival.

Now, the film has been picked to be screened for the audience at the Women's International Film Festival which is taking place in Kerala on 18 July 2022. Being another big milestone for the film and its makers, the team at 2D Entertainment took to their official Twitter handle to announce this exciting news. Fans of both Suriya and the movie itself are elated by this news and are celebrating this magnificent feat on their respective social media pages. On the work front, Suriya was last seen giving a literal killer cameo appearance as the bloodthirsty Rolex in Kamal Haasan starrer Vikram. He made another cameo appearance in the recently released Madhavan starrer Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. He is currently working with directors Bala and Siva on two seperate projects as well as Vetrimaaran's Vaadivaasal.
