It's official - leading Tamil actor-producer Suriya is teaming up with acclaimed Tamil director Sudha Kongara and blockbuster composer G. V. Prakash Kumar once again after their Soorarai Pottru, with their new film's tagline revealed to be Puranaanooru. The grand announcement of the upcoming film, which was up until now referred to as Suriya 43, was announced on Thursday, October 26, and will also see Malayalam superstar Dulquer Salmaan and popular actress Nazriya Fahadh in key roles, with Bollywood actor Vijay Varma also on board the ambitious project.

The Suriya 43 video starts off showing scenes of a riot and agitations and a Molotov cocktail (bomb in a bottle) being thrown past a radio along with the announcement that the film is GV Prakash's landmark 100th project as a music director. A cloth is shown catching fire and eventually revealing Suriya's eyes with blood stains splattered on the wall. The scene then shifts to a hand holding a revolver along with the reveal of Dulquer Salmaan's casting, followed by Nazriya's name alongside a microphone being shown, while several protesters and rioters are seen towards the end with the announcement of Vijay Varma being a part of the film. The Suriya 43 announcement then reveals that the film is going to be directed by Sudha Kongara, with one of the two strips shown being removed to reveal the tagline as Puranaanooru

Although the Suriya 43 announcement video reveals the tagline Puranaanooru, the other two strips that aren't ripped add mystery to the title. Based on what is visible from the unremoved strips above the text Puranaanooru in the video, it can be assumed that they denote numbers and are referring to possibly a year in the 1960s. According to reports, Suriya 43 will primarily revolve around the anti-Hindi imposition movement that took place in Tamil Nadu during the 1960s and it now remains to be seen how the film turns out to be. Sharing the Suriya 43 announcement video on X, Suriya wrote, "Dear all we are excited! Joining hands with @Sudha_Kongara  again in a @gvprakash  musical, his 100th! SO looking forward to work with my brother @dulQuer  & the talented #Nazriya & the performance champ @MrVijayVarma Glad @2D_ENTPVTLTD is producing this special film!  #Jyotika  @rajsekarpandian  #Suriya43 🙏🏽" (sic)
