Amala Paul has been a leading name in Tamil cinema for more than a decade since her breakout role in Mynaa (2009). She previously married Tamil filmmaker A. L. Vijay in 2014, following a four-year relationship after working together in films Deiva Thirumagal (2011) and Thalaivaa (2013), but divorced in 2017. In 2020, there were reports stating that Amala was in a live-in relationship with Mumbai-based singer Bhavninder Singh and that they both had tied the knot after photos of them in traditional wedding attire began circulating on the internet. The actress later issued a clarification denying the speculations saying that the pictures were from a photoshoot adding that they were shared without her consent.

On the work front, Amala Paul, who was last seen in Tamil in the police procedural thriller film Cadaver (2022), is awaiting the release of the highly-anticipated Malayalam survival drama Aadujeevitham starring Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role under Blessy's direction. She also has in her lineup the upcoming Dvija, which will see her sharing screen space with Neeraj Madhav and Sruthy Jayan, and is directed by Aijaz Khan.
