Suriya delivered a career best performance in Soorarai Pottru last year, with the film going on to receive universal acclaim. The actor also completed shooting for Mani Ratnam's anthology film titled Navarasa directed by Gautham Menon, which will stream on Netflix. He was also announced to be collaborating with blockbuster production banner Sun Pictures for a venture tentatively titled Suriya 40, with director Pandiraj on board. In that light, Sun Pictures on Sunday dropped yet another big update announcing composer D. Imman has been roped in to compose the music for Suriya 40. 

The announcement has come out on D. Imman's birthday today, which no doubt will give him and his fans much happiness. Sun Pictures wrote on Twitter, "Music Director  @immancomposer  will be composing the music for #Suriya40bySunPictures  @Suriya_offl  #DirectorPandiraj #Suriya40". It is to be noted that D. Imman will be scoring for the first time for a full-length Suriya film after he churned out hit tunes for the actor's 2D Entertainment production venture, Kadaikutty Singam, in 2018. Suriya had made a cameo appearance in Kadaikutty Singam, which had his brother Karthi in the lead role. Check out below Sun Pictures' announcement on D. Imman coming on board Suriya 40:

Suriya 40 is gearing up to be a first of many sorts for all those associated as it marks the first time Suriya is acting in the lead role under Pandiraj's direction after he made a special appearance in Pasanga 2, which as well was produced by the actor under his 2D Entertainment banner. Production on Suriya 40 had been announced to begin in February, with Pandiraj sometime back revealing that the team is finalizing on two important characters for the film. Pandiraj informed fans that updates will be made on a regular basis, while teasing that the film will be laden with action. 

There were speculations a while back that South Indian sensation Rashmika Mandanna was being eyed to play the female lead in Suriya 40, including several other rumors on the film's casting. However, Pandiraj last year clarified that no such decision has been made and requested fans not to believe in any of the cast and crew rumors that were doing the rounds online. Apart from Suriya 40 and Navarasa, Suriya is also attached to director Vetri Maaran's Vaadivasal being produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu's V Creations, which as well marks the actor’s first-time association with the National Award-winning director.
