Suresh Gopi sells lottery tickets!

There├п┬┐┬╜was a sudden unexpected reason to rejoice for all road users near Tagore Theatre, Thiruvananthapuram. What was the reason? Malayalam superstar Suresh Gopi, director K. Madhu and producer Suresh Kumar were on the road, selling recently launched lottery tickets to constitute a ‘welfare fund’ for artistes├п┬┐┬╜from different├п┬┐┬╜fields. In a matter of just 90 minutes, they├п┬┐┬╜sold tickets worth Rs. 35,000 and people from all walks of life crowded around Suresh Gopi to buy a ticket from him.

The lottery tickets are priced at Rs. 100 and the lucky draw is to be held on March 9. The first prize is Rs. 20 million. These special lottery tickets were launched last month by Culture Minister M.A. Baby in the presence of superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal at a special function in Kochi.

Meanwhile, officials├п┬┐┬╜say that├п┬┐┬╜several NRI organizations have sent├п┬┐┬╜enquiries to the state government asking if these lottery tickets can be sold abroad as well. M.A. Baby has reportedly replied that he would have to check with the Finance Department if lottery tickets could be physically sold outside the country. “Another way is that these NRIs can, by way of a power of attorney, buy tickets here through their relatives,” he was quoted as saying.
