Suresh Gopi launches DVD on cricket
Malayalam film actor Suresh Gopi and former India wicket keeper Syed Kirmani jointly launched the first Malayalam DVD on cricket coaching made by former Duleep trophy and Ranji Trophy player P. Balachandran at a function in Kochi on Thursday. Balachandran had already released a book on cricket coaching in Malayalam some time back.
The DVD, titled 'Cricket Padikkam - Balachandranodoppam' (Learn Cricket with Balachandran), has sport techniques and expert comments of a host of sportspersons like India pacer S. Sreesanth, former Ranji trophy Kerala captain leg-spinner K. Ananthapadmanabhan, former sprint queen P.T. Usha, star footballer I.M. Vijayan and Ranji trophy players like medium pacers Sony Cheruvathur, Prashant Chandran and Balachandran.
Since running is an important part of cricket, Usha talks about running, while I.M. Vijayan speaks on the importance of dedication citing his own example. Speedster Sreesanth deals on fast bowling and Ananthapadmanabhan on spin bowling. They will share their experiences in the DVD, which will run for approximately two hours, Balachandran said.
Speaking on the occasion, Kirmani, also a former nNational selector, lauded Balachandran for coming out with the DVD. Since the DVD is in Malayalam, it would be of great help for the local people, he said. Former Kerala Cricket Association Secretary S. Haridas also spoke during the DVD launch.
