Srikanth Deva: The nocturnal music director

When Srikanth Deva suggested to director Parthi Bhaskar that they go to Pondicherry, famous for its calm and clean beach, for composing the music of Arjunan Kadhali, Parthi Bhaskar readily agreed for he thought he too could utilize the city’s serenity to develop the film’s screenplay. The duo thought it would be a great idea to compose tunes sitting by the beach during midnight, a time when only police on the beat would be around. Or so they thought!

When they went out on the beach and Srikanth started playing his keyboard, a group of people appeared from nowhere, soon recognized their favourite music director and swarmed him for autographs and even requested him to play their favourite songs! Soon fans from nearby hotels, who learnt that Srikanth Deva and Parthi Bhaskar were out there, started arriving in great numbers. The flummoxed duo stood there, signing autographs and acknowledging the crowd’s cheers! The frenzied fans allowed them to move on only when the police on patrol intervened!

After this incident, Srikanth Deva and Parthi Bhaskar stuck to the cops’ advice: they booked a beach-view room in a hotel and completed composing the music and brainstorming sessions!
