Souryam in Malayalam?

Cinematographer-turned-director J. Siva Kumar's first Telugu venture Souryam (2008), starring Gopichand, Anushka Shetty and Poonam Kaur in the lead roles, is reportedly being dubbed in Malayalam with the same title. The movie is produced by Anand Prasad under the banner Bhavya Creations.

Souryam revolves around Vijay (Gopichand), who comes to Kolkata in search of his lost sister (Poonam Kaur). Though he finds his sister, he conceals his identity, fearing that shemay hate him. Why? When his father died, Vijay had abandoned her hoping that she would bebetter off in an orphanage ratherthan living with him in penury. It leaves a scar on her mind and she starts hating her brother.

In Kolkata, Vijay meets a naughty college student Swetha (Anushka) and soon romance blossoms between them. In the meantime, Vijay is being chased by Sivarama Krishna Goud (Manoj K. Jayan), aHyderabad don. The link between Goud and Vijay is told in a flashback. How Vijay wins his sister's love and saves her from the hands of Goud forms the rest of the plot.

The film has music by Mani Sharma, cinematography by Vetri and editing by Marthand K. Venkatesh. Story and screenplay are handled by the director himself. Also in the cast are Ajay, Ali, M.S. Narayana and Krishna Bhagawan.
