Sibi: Perfect villain material!

So says Shakthi, who debuts in direction with the Naanayam. That the movie is a crime thriller is not as interesting as the fact that Sibiraj has consented to play the villain in it! "Young directors generally look out for uniqueness in casting and approach actors with the hope that they would agree to be cast in a different mould, but not all do. I'm glad Sibi has," says Shakthi. Adding, "Ever since I watched Lee with Sibi in the lead, I felt he was perfect villain material. And commercially of course, being the son of Sathyaraj, who conceived a new grammar in portraying negative roles, Sibi's performance is sure to kindle curiosity. The role offers Sibi plenty of scope and he is doing a terrific job."

Should we watch out for stark similarities between Sibi and his villain dad? No way! "He does not want to be branded as his father's junior in that sense and is making a conscious effort not to reflect his father's style," insists the director, who has worked under Venkat Prabhu and Mysskin, who in spite of being comparitive novices themselves, have proved that they are film makers with a different vision. Will Shakthi fall in line?
