Shobana to perform in Kozhikode

After a long gap, National Award winning actress and Bharatanatyam exponent Shobana will stage a Bharatanatyam recital in Kozhikode (Kerala)�at the Tagore Centenary Hall on Wednesday as part of the Bheema Soorya Festival that opens on Tuesday with the performance�seasoned Bharatanatyam dancers Anuradha and Sridhar.

The festival, hosted by the Kozhikode Corporation, KTDC and Bankmen’s Club, features some accomplished dancers as well as upcoming talents, including the Bangalore-based Veena and Dhanya.

Contemporary dance by the Thiruvananthapuram-based Samudra and two shows of instrumental music by Synergy and Swaranjali, complete the line-up of programmes. It is for the second time that the Thiruvananthapuram-based cultural organisation Soorya is bringing the festival to Kozhikode. Entry to the festival is free. The programmes will begin at 6.30 p.m. every evening.

October 6: Bharatanatyam by Anuradha and Sridhar; October 7: Bharatanatyam by Shobana; October 8: Kathak by Shila Mehta; October 9: Bharatanatyam by Veena Nair and Dhanya Nair, fusion music by Synergy; and October 10: Contemporary dance by Samudra, instrumental music by Swaranjali.
