Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's security will be raised to the Y+ category by the Mumbai Police after he allegedly complained of receiving death threats following the success of his films, Pathaan and Jawan. 11 personnel, including 2-4 commandos and police personnel will be accompanying the leading Hindi actor at all times round the clock under the Y+ category security detail. Shah Rukh Khan was earlier being accompanied by two security personnel. According to reports, the actor recently wrote to the Maharashtra government about the death threats that he received after the gargantuan success of his two films this year, Pathaan and Jawan. The Maharashtra government's policy states that security cover will be provided to private citizens facing a threat to life, who will have to pay a fee or deposit a security amount for the protection in such cases.

Shah Rukh Khan is the most recent Bollywood celebrity to be provided with Y+ security after Salman Khan, who received threats from Lawrence Bishnoi's gang earlier this year. It is to be noted that this isn't the first time that Shah Rukh Khan has received a threat as he has in the past had run-ins with the Mumbai underworld, which filmmaker Sanjay Gupta recently noted in his post on X, while praising the actor on the success of Jawan. He wrote, "Back in the 90s when the underworld bullying of film stars was at its peak, Shah Rukh Khan was THE ONLY star who never gave in. 'Goli marni hai mar do, par tumhaare liye kaam nahin karoonga. Main Pathan hoon' (shoot me if you want to, but I won't work for you, I am a Pathan). He's the same today." (sic)

On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan is currently busy filming his next big project, Dunki, under blockbuster filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani's direction. The upcoming film, which will be the final release of 'King Khan' in 2023, is scheduled to open in cinemas on December 22 and has him sharing screen space with Taapsee Pannu.
