Ramanarayanan wins TFPC

The Tamil Film Producers' Council held its annual election on Sunday amidst heavy security and the results were declared late in the evening. Film director Ramanarayanan won the election by a decisive margin and will be president.

He contested against producer Panchu Arunachalam, who got 138 votes, against a total of 532 votes polled. S.A. Chandrasekar and Anbalaya Prabhakaran were elected vice-presidents.

Shivashakthi Pandian and K. Muralitharan were elected as secretaries while Rajamohideen was elected as treasurer for the next two years. There were 42 candidates contesting for 21 office-bearers positions on the council.

 

The TEPC is the most influential union in the Tamil film industry with 602 members. This most powerful council goes to polls once every two years.
