Two-time National Award winner Dhanush unveiled the first look of filmmaker-actor Selvaraghavan in the highly-anticipated film Raayan on Thursday, February 22. Sharing the poster on social media, the Captain Miller star expressed his joy at the opportunity to direct his elder brother. Posting the new Raayan poster, Dhanush wrote on X, "Never thought I’ll direct you someday sir 🙏🙏 @selvaraghavan" (sic) Shortly after, Selvaraghavan too conveyed his happiness at being a part of the film and thanked his younger brother saying, "Thanks for the opportunity director sir ! It's gonna be an epic and I'm so proud of you ! 👏👏" (sic)

Raayan marks the second time Selvaraghavan is acting in a Dhanush film after Naane Varuvean (2022) and is their seventh collaboration overall. While Selvaraghavan directed Dhanush in films Kaadhal Kondein (2003), Pudhupettai (2006), Mayakkam Enna (2011), and Naane Varuvean, he wrote the screenplay for Thulluvadho Ilamai (2002) and Yaaradi Nee Mohini (2008). Earlier this week, Selvaraghavan confirmed his role in Raayan and issued a clarification stating that he had nothing to do with the scripting process of the upcoming Tamil film also releasing in Telugu and Hindi languages. He posted, "Friends , heard reports that I have written the script for D 50 RAAYAN. I clarify that I have NOTHING to do with ‘ RAAYAN ‘ s script or scripting process. It’s purely @dhanushkraja s dream script and now he has made it in to his own film. I am merely an actor in this project 🙏🏼" (sic) Selvaraghavan added, "Like all of you I cannot wait to watch #Raayan in theatres. Proud of my brother @dhanushkraja and his hard work and dedication 🥰" (sic)

The buzz surrounding Raayan has been massive right from the get-go and the excitement has shot up after it was revealed that Selvaraghavan would be seen in a big role alongside Dhanush time in comparison to his cameo in Naane Varuvean. Raayan, which incidentally is Dhanush's second directorial after Pa Paandi (2017), also stars SJ Suryah, Sundeep Kishan, and Kalidas Jayaram, and will feature songs and a background composed by Academy Award winner A. R. Rahman
