Leading actress Trisha Krishnan has initiated legal action against former AIADMK leader A. V. Raju for the controversial remarks he made about her in a recent interview. The Tamil star took to social media on Thursday, February 22, and issued a legal notice against the politician accusing him of defamation. Trisha's legal counsel has demanded a compensation and an apology in the next 24 hours, which has to be published in prominent English and Tamil newspapers, and across digital media channels, while asserting further legal action in case he failed to comply.

Earlier this week, Trisha slammed A. V. Raju on X after he made inappropriate and derogatory remarks against her, with the video of his interview going viral. The actress wrote on X, "It's disgusting to repeatedly see low lives and despicable human beings who will stoop down to any level to gain attention. Rest assured, necessary and severe action will be taken. Anything that needs to be said and done henceforth will be from my legal department." (sic) Subsequently, A. V. Raju issued an apology the same day by appearing in a video stating that his statements were misinterpreted. He further said that he had no intentions to target any actors and tendered an apology to Trisha, director Cheran, and Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) president RK Selvamani if his statements had hurt their sentiments.

Trisha's latest decision to file a defamation case against A. V. Raju has garnered her support from her fans online, with many praising her for stepping up for herself. On the work front, Trisha has several big projects in her lineup among which include Ajith Kumar's VidaaMuyarchi and 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan's Thug Life in Tamil, followed by 'Megastar' Chiranjeevi's Vishwambhara, and Mohanlal's Ram and Tovino Thomas' Identity in Malayalam.
