The much awaited trailer of the Hindi film Shaitaan starring Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, and Jyotika is now out and promises to be an intense psychological horror-thriller. The upcoming film directed by Vikas Bahl and featuring music composed by Amit Trivedi is scheduled to open in theatres starting March 8, and the visuals in the intriguing trailer with heart-thumping adrenaline moments has no doubt raised the curiosity among fans of a thrilling roller-coaster theatrical experience unlike any before.

The Shaitaan trailer starts off showing Madhavan's character entering the peaceful house of Ajay Devgn and Jyotika, who are a married couple and parents to a teenage daughter and son played by Janki Bodiwala and Aangad Maaholay. Although everything seems normal in the beginning when Madhavan requests Ajay Devgn and Jyotika to charge his phone, they soon realize that there's more to him than meets the eye after he hypnotizes their daughter and holds her under his spell, and forces her to dance to tunes, including act violently against herself and her parents. The Shaitaan trailer packs in quite a punch and also shows a cult towards the end, while laying the emphasis on the family, with the performances of all three stars, including the supporting artistes coming to the fore.

Shaitaan will appeal to Tamil cinema fans too considering both Madhavan and Jyotika are cast in primary roles, and have garnered a reputation of playing strong characters. The film marks Jyotika's big Hindi cinema comeback after almost after 25 years when she began her acting career with Doli Saja Ke Rakhna (1997) and will see her sharing screen space with Madhavan after their Dumm Dumm Dumm (2001) and Priyamaana Thozhi (2003). Considering Shaitaan is a psychological thriller, it has all the trappings of a thorough theatrical entertainer appealing to Tamil audiences and it now remains to be seen how the film will be received.
