Newcomers are easier: M.G. Sasi

M.G. Sasi, whose directorial debut Adayalangal made a mark by bagging five Kerala State Film awards, including the awards for best director, best film and best cinematographer, prefers newcomers over superstars for his movies. His reason is that casting a newcomer is an easier option.

"Once someone becomes a star, he acquires an image and the director needs to work more to reshape his body language and mannerisms. In Adayalangal, Padmasoorya and Jyothirmayi in the lead roles have certainly lived up to the expectations," he added.

M.G. Sasi is currently working on the script of his next film, an adaptation of Padmarajan’s short story 'Rithubhedangalude Parithoshikam'.

Adayalangal, a 100-minute long feature film, is the first venture in Malayalam to blend the life of a writer and his works. It tells of writer Nandanar, author of 'Unnikuttante Lokam', comprising the stories 'Unnikuttante Oru Divasom', 'Unnikuttan Valarunnu' and 'Unnikuttan Schoolil'.
