As reported earlier, leading OTT streaming giant Netflix assembled a Tamil anthology film with four leading filmmakers - Vetri Maaran, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Sudha Kongara and Vignesh Shivan. The announcement about the anthology was made a few months before and it made the fans excited. Titled as Paava Kadhaigal, this anthology will consist of four short stories that fall under the common theme of honour killing. Netflix has now made the official announcement that this exciting anthology film will release on 18 December. It is indeed quite exciting to know that we are just 3 weeks away from witnessing this new film and it is going to be an interesting flick to watch out for.

Paava Kadhaigal, as the title suggests will have an intense story telling that will be high on emotional quotient. With 4 quality filmmakers in the front, we can expect Paava Kadhaigal to be an impactful film. Netflix has also released a small teaser along with the announcement and it looks quite intriguing. We are introduced to all the lead characters of the film and it manages to kindle our curiosity. Vetri Maaran's short film will feature Prakash Raj and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles and the Premam actress, in one of her earlier interviews revealed that the role was mentally challenging for her and it took quite sometime for her to come out of it.

Gautham Menon's directorial will feature himself playing the lead, alongside Simran and Aadhitya Baaskar (96 fame) and it is going to be an interesting watch. Kalidas Jayaram, Shanthnu Bhagyaraj, and Bhavani Sre play the leads in Sudha Kongara's portion while Kalki Koechlin and Anjali play the leads in Vignesh Shivan's directorial. Among the four short stories, Vignesh Shivan's portion is said to have a quirky humour touch to it and it is going to be interesting to see how the Naanum Rowdy Dhaan director has treated the plot.

Paava Kadhaigal will be on the lines of Lust Stories and Ghost Stories and let us hope that this project opens up more avenues for Tamil filmmakers to tell their stories on digital platforms. With just 21 days there for release, we can expect Netflix to release the trailer and other promotional materials in the coming days.
