Gobinath Chandran, known best among Tamil audiences as the host of the long-running talk and debate show Neeya Naana on the Vijay Television channel, is an accomplished anchor, radio jockey, journalist, reporter, news presenter, entrepreneur, while also garnering a name for himself as a writer. Having also earned the reputation of a motivational speaker, with videos of his speeches going viral on social media, he recently sat down with National Award-winning film critic Baradwaj Rangan, the Editor-in-Chief of Galatta Plus, to talk about his body of work on Neeya Naana, while also opening up on his life journey from starting as a journalist to becoming a leading name in the Tamil television industry.

During the interview, Gobinath went on to explain the process behind approaching the topics for discussion on Neeya Naana and how they take up subjects that could be controversial. He said, "There's a process on how a topic for the debate gets approved. After brainstorming on all the topics, the television channel gives its approval. I don't have a role in deciding what needs to be done and what shouldn't be done." Gobinath continued, "Several topics are discussed and towards the end, the channel has a team that will approve. I too forward the topic recommendations that come to me to the channel. There are the rules and regulations of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) that we may have to adhere to, but otherwise, as far as I know, I haven't faced any crisis up until now in regard to what to and what not to talk about. I have also never asked what to talk about on the show. In that way, I am so blessed."
