'Thalapathy' Vijay's Leo continues to scale new peaks with each passing day and the film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj featuring music composed by Anirudh Ravichander has now secured the seventh biggest Thursday IMAX opening of all time. The big news was shared by Preetham Daniel, Vice President - IMAX Corporation - India, South East Asia, Korea, Australia, and New Zealand, who revealed that the mass action drama has joined the list of films that includes the global blockbuster Avatar. He further shared that Leo released on ten IMAX screens out of the total twenty-six in India and stated that the Vijay-starrer was a "force of its own", and concluded by saying that 'Bollywood Baadshah' Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan and Pathaan made huge box office returns and were screened on all the IMAX screens.

On Monday, November 13, Preetham Daniel wrote on X the following:

"Here is the answer .. all 3 films broke records

LEO was the 7th Biggest Thursday IMAX Opening of All Time. When I say 7th it’s including films like avatar etc.
Considering it played only in 10 screens of the 26 in India, this is a force of its own.

Jawan and Pathan were high in box office and played across all of IMAX screens." (sic)

Preetham's latest statement has come as a response to a poll he posted on X last week asking followers to weigh in their views on which of the following films namely Jawan, Pathaan, and Leo was the top performer in IMAX in 2023. The poll revealed the last-standing results wherein the Vijay film secured 54.2% of the votes, while the Shah Rukh Khan-starrers garnered the rest of the responses.

Leo released on a Thursday, October 19, has reportedly crossed the 600-crore mark in worldwide gross collections and continues to witness a strong audience turnout in theatres despite the new Diwali releases last week. The film has Vijay sharing screen space with Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Gautham Menon, Mansoor Ali Khan, Sandy master, Priya Anand, Madonna Sebastian, Mathew Thomas, and Baby Iyal, among others, and is the Tamil superstar's second outing with director Lokesh Kanagaraj after their Master (2021).
