Navya Nair ties the knot

Noted Malayalam, Kannada and Tamil actress Navya Nair tied the knot with businessman Santosh N. Menon at Cheppad near Alappuzha on Thursday. Navya Nair, a native of Muthukulam in Alappuzha, is the daughter of Raju, a BSNL employee, and Veena, a schoolteacher. She wore a red Kanchivaram Bavanji Sari. A reception will be held at a hall in Changanacherry (Santhosh's hometown) this evening at 6 p.m.

The wedding, conducted between 12 p.m. and 12.30 p.m. at the C.K.H.S.S. Grounds, Cheppad, was attended by over 1,500 people, including several film stars including Cheran, Kaviyoor Ponnamma, Suresh Gopi, Divya Unni and K.P.A.C. Lalitha. CPI (M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan, Ministers G. Sudhakaran and Paloli Mohammed Kutty, Kerala Congress (B) leader R. Balakrishna Pillai and his son K.B. Ganesh Kumar also were present.

Navya Nair began her acting career with the hit Malayalam film Ishtam in 2001 and went on to win the State Best Actress award the next year for her performance in Nandanam. She has around five yet-to-be completed films in her bag as she tied the knot with Santosh, the vice-president of a Mumbai-based exporting firm and the son of Narayana Menon and Shantha Menon, originally hailing from Changanassery in Kottayam district.
