Navya Nair in Yugapurushan

Navya Nair has an important role in director R. Sukumaran's multistarrer Yugapurushan, a period film based on the life and times of Sree Narayana Guru (1856-1928). She is cast in the role of a Brahmin lady named Savithri Antharjanam, whose lifestyle undergoes�a revolution after she becomes a follower of Sree Narayana Guru. In poet Kumaran Asan's famous poem ‘Duravastha’Savithri Antharjanam's character�was already portrayed; she loved a 'pulayan' named Koran and married him. Savithri's role was offered to Kavya Madhavan but she rejected it�in view of her forthcoming marriage.�

Shooting will start in Ottapaalam on January 21st. The director is planning to complete the film in two months' shooting in and outside Kerala.

After Twenty:20, Malayalam superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal come together in Yugapurushan, which will have Mohanlal as Swami Vivekananda and Mammootty as a revolutionary who lived and supported the guru’s teachings in the same period. Tamil actor Thalaivasal Vijay will don the role of Sree Narayana Guru in his seventies.

Also in the cast are Jagathy Sreekumar, Kalabhavan Mani, Saikumar, Siddique, Babu Antony, Devan, Saiju Kurup, Sukumari and Shobha Mohan. Ramachandra Babu handles the camera. The film is produced by A.V. Anoop in association with AMMA (the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes).

Meanwhile, Navya Nair is currently busy with the shooting�of Prithviraj starrer Calendar directed by debutant Mahesh. Calendar is planned as a hilarious comedy and slated for a Vishu release. Navya is also the heroine of Violet (Malayalam) starring Suresh Gopi in the lead. Violet has already completed�shooting and is expected to hit�theatres soon.
