M. Karunanidhi: Three films under production

For some unknown reasons, Pa. Vijay's first movie Thai Kaviyam did not see the light of day. The lyricist-turned-actor had a dismal start when Gnabagangal (opposite Sri Devika) failed and became a mere memory. On sentimental grounds, Vijay is upset that his debut movie with the blessings of Chief Minister Karunanidhi (who had penned the script inspired by the work of Russian author Maxim Gorky) is lying in the cans after the initial shoot at China.

But here is some cheerful news for Nandini Arts, the production house behind the Thai Kaviyam project. For their next venture titled Pen Singham, Kalaignar has penned dialogues and screenplay. Bala Srirangam, director of Thai Kaviyam is will direct titled Pen Singham. The movie is expected to begin once the star cast is finalized. Three of Kalaignar's stories being produced at the same time – Neeyindri Naanilai (directed by Ilaveni) and Ponnar Sankar ( Thyagarajan) are the other two – is some coincidence.
