Meryl Streep too ugly?
Italian film maker Dino De Laurentis rejected Meryl Streep for a role in 1976’s King Kong because Dino though Meryl was too ugly! Meryl reveals that she went for an audition for a part in the movie but the veteran director sent her away because he was not happy with her looks. Not realizing that Meryl spoke Italian fluently, he rather crudely commented on her looks in the language and turned her down. "He said to his son, who organized the meeting, 'She's ugly. Why did you bring me this thing?' He didn't realize I'd just graduated and studied Italian. When I replied in Italian, he looked like he had been shot," she laughs!
