Released last year amidst massive expectations, 2.0, starring ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth in the lead role under Shankar’s direction is now one of the biggest films in the history of Indian cinema.
Made at a budget of over 500 crores, this sci-fi action film produced by Lyca Productions also featured Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar as the antagonist followed by British model turned actress Amy Jackson in the female lead role with music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman.
With the film turning out to be a massive global hit, Rakesh Gowthaman, the Managing Director of the popular Vettri Theatres at Chennai has revealed that 2.0 is now officially the highest grossing film ever in the theatre’s history. He also added the 3D glass charges have not been included and that the data has not been adjusted for inflation while looking over at the collections in the theatre.
