Mani Ratnam to resume work?

Ace director Mani Ratnam, who has been admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai on Tuesday night after a minor heart attack, is likely to resume work after resting for a couple of days. Ratnam's spokesman Nikhil Murugan saidthere is nothing to panic and the director is healthy. However, Ratnam will not be discharged from the hospital for at least48 hours.

His doctors say thatthe director had a minor heart attack in the same region where he suffered the last attack in 2006. However, his vital parameters (urine output, blood pressure and pulse) are normal. He is currently in the intensive care unit under observation. A complete diagnosis will be made only after investigations on Thursday. His wife Suhasini is at his side, while no other visitors are being allowed.

This is the third heart attack the 52-year-old director has suffered in the last five years, the last two being in 2004 and 2006. Mani Ratnam is currently working on his big budget bilingual film tentatively titled Ravan/ Asokavanam starring Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and Vikram. He had just returned from his hectic Kolkata schedule and was planning to leave for Kerala to shoot the climax of Ravan from April 20.
