A film announcement that left fans both surprised and ecstatic, the tentatively titled D43, starring Dhanush in the lead role under Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru and Mafia director Karthick Naren's direction is being produced by the reputed Sathya Jyothi Films. Announced initially to be coming out in theatres as an October release this year, the production on D43 had not begun as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, which brought a complete halt to all film proceedings across the country over the past few months. The upcoming Sathya Jyothi Films venture is the production banner's third film with Dhanush after Thodari and Pattas, with another project under Ratsasan director Ramkumar as well currently in the pipeline.

Having said that, Sathya Jyothi Films on Saturday dropped a massive announcement informing fans that actress Malavika Mohanan has been cast in D43 opposite Dhanush. It is to be noted that Malavika Mohanan had earlier towards the end of July expressed her desire to work with Dhanush, while conveying her birthday wishes to the National Award-winning actor. Her tweet and Dhanush's subsequent reply instantly sparked off speculations as to whether the two would be seen together in D43, which has now been made official.

For sure, Malavika Mohanan must be on cloud nine considering she has been landing roles in films alongside some of the biggest stars in Tamil cinema. After her Tamil debut in 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's Petta last year, she was announced to be a part of the highly-anticipated 'Thalapathy' Vijay starrer, Master, which is expected to hit screens early next year. The film, which also has 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi, has the popular actress playing the female lead opposite to Vijay, with her casting since then being given a double thumbs-up by fans.

D43, which will see composer G. V. Prakash Kumar coming on board once again for a Dhanush film after his rocking chart-busters and sensational background score in last year's Asuran, had revealed that the upcoming venture would be a new-age thriller. As of now, the film is getting its screenplay written by the acclaimed writer duo of Sharfu-Suhas. Furthermore, it was revealed that GV Prakash had finished composing the D43 songs back in July, while also informing fans that Dhanush himself had penned the lyrics along with lyricist Vivek.
