Making regional films is challenging: Ramadasa Naidu

Kannada producer-director P.R. Ramadasa Naidu of Beli Matthu Hola fame says that making good films in Kannada continues to present a big hurdle for film-makers, because theatre rentals are very high even for commercial films. He also said that he is happy his film had been chosen by IFFI for its world premiere.

Naidu said his immediate inspiration for making this film was the state of affairs in some parts of Karnataka where the common man is trampled under the giant treads of the prevailing system. He said he set out to make Beli Matthu Hola because he was disturbed by the fact that law enforcing agencies are not diligently safeguarding the interests of the common man.

Kum Veerabhadra, who has penned the story, said the situations he has depicted continue to remain the same even three decades after he wrote the novel.
