R. Madhavan's Rocketry: The Nambi Effect won the Best Feature Film honor at the 69th National Film Awards on Thursday, August 24. The leading Tamil actor-filmmaker expressed his elation on social media for the big win by dropping the surprise news that the day is incidentally his mother's birthday making it furthermore special. In addition, he gave a shout-out to his father, including Nambi Narayanan, former scientist and aerospace engineer of the ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation), while also extending gratitude to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Anurag Thakur, Union I&B Minister.
Reminiscing the journey of Rocketry: The Nambi Effect's streak in recognition from the 2022 Cannes Film Festival where it first premiered to its latest big honor, Madhavan revealed that he, Nambi Narayanan on whom the film is based, and the entire team were at a loss for words. Sharing a picture of himself along with his mother and a screengrab of Rocketry being announced as the Best Feature Film at the 69th National Awards, Madhavan wrote on X, "Wish you the Happiest Birthday yet Amma.. Rocketry: The Nambi Effect marked Madhavan's filmmaking debut and the popular Tamil actor hit it big in his opening innings on the director's chair, with the film simultaneously made in Tamil, Hindi, and English languages.
