Incredible true love story

Ayyavazhi has affected its music director Bhagavathi Sivaganesan (who has also sung for the film) in more ways than one, all for the good.

The film has given birth to an incredible love story that can serve as an excellent script for a Kollywood film. Music director Sivaganesan met his love Charumathi, a playback singer, on the sets of this film. They fell in love and their love blossomed when they were singing the beautiful song 'Vanaveli engum' penned by Pulavar Pulamaipitthan in the recording room. The two music aficionados were totally engrossed, not only in the song, its rich lyrics and the music, but also in each other. At the end of the song, they realized that they were deeply in love with each other; and decided to spend the rest of their lives together bonded by marriage. Finally, they got married when the film was nearing completion.

Ayyavazhi is a film based on true incidents that took place in 18th century. It depicts the consequences of the harsh caste system that existed in those days and the atrocities heaped upon those who fought against it, especially upon Vaikundaswami, who advocated an inclusive society free of caste.

A few days before falling in love with Charumathi, Sivaganesan was so deeply moved by the scenes depicting the atrocities inflicted upon Vaikundaswamy, he broke into tears and did not stop crying for a long time. This not only shows the efficacy of the director in depicting those incidents but also the soft nature of the young music director. Sivaganesan agrees that he is very sensitive and this incident has really changed him a lot. It filled him with more empathy. He says the film has also given him more courage to stand up for those who are weak. Now, apart from being a film music director, he also is a humanitarian.
