I lived in villages to be able to make Poo better: Sasi

The crew of Poo metpresspersons topromote their film.If the effect (of the special screening session of Poo) on the media could be summarized in just one word, then that would be "mesmerizing"! So focused were the audience at the meet, they rarely moved! Once the screening was complete, director Sasi, hero Srikanth and heroine Parvathy, who were present at the meet, received a thunderous applause, which they accepted humbly.

Director Sasisaid that hebecame obsessed with the novel “Veyyilodu Poi” when he first read it during his college days. He immediately decided that some day, he would convert it into a film, a wish which grew stronger when friends with whom he shared the novel reflected his intense admirationfor the novel. Heimmediately realized that a film based on the book would have a universal appeal and in fact wanted to debut in the industry with Poo, but unfortunately circumstances did not allow it. A city-dweller throughout his life, Sasi did not know much about village life, which is the backdrop of the novel. So, he even decided to move to a remote village to learn more about the life there! “I have lived in city all my life. To make the film realistic and appealing, I should know everything about a village. So, I moved to the hamlets in and around Rajapalayam and Sivakasi to be able to make Poo better. I stayed there for 10 months and developed my screenplay,” said Sasi. The director also appreciated the good work done by the lead pair of his film, especially Parvathy.

Srikanth surprised everyone with his humility when he candidly accepted that Poo belongs to Parvathy and lauded her efforts, dedication, and acting style. He added that the film’s story appealed to him so much that he very much wanted to be in it even after knowing that it was a heroine-oriented film.Appreciating his humility and broad-mindedness, the press persons said that he has shone bright eventhoughhis rolehas limited scope.

Parvathy, overwhelmed by all the attention she received, accepted all the appreciation humbly. The humble and beautiful actress said she is extremely thankful to Sasi for his advice and guidance and to Srikanth for his support. With their support and guidance, she was able to perform better, she said. She said that she “lived” the role rather than enacting it.
