Glamorous roles are easier: Sheryl
Sheryl Pinto, who debuted in Arasangam opposite Vijaykanth, says glamorous roles are a cakewalk for her as she has the perfect figure for it. The chic girl did a glamorous role in Arasangam and followed it by the demure-girl act in Engal Aasan, which paired her up with Vijaykanth again. Now, the beautiful actress is acting in Vaada opposite Sundar C. in which she plays a glamorous landlady. Sheryl Pinto was selected instead of Geeta Basra, the Bollywood model-actress, who could not allot any dates to this film due to her pending modelling and Bollywood assignments. A. Venkatesh, who directs Vaada, zeroed in on Sheryl as soon as he found Geetha Basra would not be accepting the role.
Sheryl is making a steady advance in an industry which is highly competitive, particularly for heroines. It is pleasing to see such a talented and beautiful actress climb the ladder of fame. Post Vaada, there is no doubt there will be an escalation in Sheryl’s status (and possibly fee) as the film provides her ample opportunity to showcase her beauty, acting talent (which we have already noted in Arasangam and Engal Aasan), and her flair for comedy (she is the landlady of Vivek’s travel agency in this film and their interaction promises quite a lot of laughs).
Sheryl is said to have evinced interest in being “extra” glamorous. She has a shape that craves to be seen in a swimsuit and has apparently said that she would be willing to don a bikini if her role requires it. She feels posing in a bikini is not associated with any social stigma these days, but is considered an act that can only be done by someone with a beautiful and well-sculpted cellulite-free physique; a ‘bikini act’ by an actress is now a matter of pride and a status builder.
So now, directors and producers know whom to cast in their films if it demands a ‘bikini act’ from the heroine! And it is a sure bet that soon Sheryl Pinto will be counted amongst the top heroines of Kollywood.
