Ilaiyaraaja's brother and National Award jury member Gangai Amaran is reportedly upset with the maestro for rejecting the prestigious National Awards. Recently, Ilaiyaraaja has rejected the awards for having two categories in the field of music. He has earlier written a letter to the committee stating that just like direction and cinematography, music should also have only one category. This year, Ilaiyaraaja won the best background score for Thara Thappattai while Malayalam music director M Jayachandran took away the best music.
Reportedly, Gangai Amaran has lashed out at the music director for rejecting it. He has also stated that the jury would have nominated someone else if he has informed earlier.
