2018 has seen a flurry of biopic announcements that also include on former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa with three projects in development at present. Among them, six-time National Award-winning filmmaker and Padma Shri Awardee P. Bharathiraja is set to direct a film. Popular director A. L. Vijay of Kireedam, Thalaivaa, Deiva Thirumagal and Devi fame too is working on a project on the Late actress turned politician. And finally, a film with Nithya Menen announced to be portraying the iconic stateswoman under Mysskin’s former associate A Priyadhaarshini’s direction too is currently underway.
That said, sources close to us have now revealed a biopic web series on Jayalalithaa has begun production at the AVM Studios in Chennai and under Gautham Menon’s direction. Although no cast and crew details are known yet, updates on the project are set to follow in the days ahead.
It must be noted the blockbuster director already has two films in line next in 2019 - the romantic action thriller, Enai Noki Paayum Thota, starring Dhanush, Sasikumar and Megha Akash and, the action spy thriller, Dhruva Natchathiram with ‘Chiyaan’ Vikram, Aishwarya Rajesh, Ritu Varma and Parthiepan in lead roles.
