Eight assistant directors act in a film

Filming of S.P.B. Charan’s Kunguma Poovum Konjum Puravum (KPKP) is almost complete. The film has generated a lot of curiosity in Kollywood as S.P.B. Charan gave a big hit last year – Chennai 600028. KPKP is a love story but unlike other love stories, it will not rely on soppiness that would cloy on you; it would be a simple and touching story presented to you beautifully and director Raja Mohan is sure it would have a subliminal effect on the viewer.

Here are some interesting facts about this film:

Director Raja Mohan became a director to fulfill his brother’s incomplete dreams of becoming a film director; his brother unfortunately died in an accident.

S.P.B. Charan agreed to shoulder the project within 15 minutes of story narration by director Raja Mohan, who is a first-timer! But if this astute-minded producer thinks a script can be converted into a super hit film, there is no arguing.

One fine day, when Ramakrishnan, assistant director of Cheran, came down to Charan’s office to share some of his ideas, he received the shock of his life: Raja and Charan decided to cast him as the hero of KPKP. In the film, Ramakrishnan plays a young lad belonging to a fishing community.

Including Ramakrishnan, eight assistant directors act in KPKP!

The film’s heroine Darshana, again Charan and Raja Mohan’s discovery, is a 2nd year medical college student. When both Raja and Charan felt they needed a newcomer in her teens with next-door-girl image, they began scouting the colleges of Chennai and found Darshana in a medical college just when they thought they should give up their search!

And cajoling Darshana to act was another story, which could even be made into a metro movie! Hope, S.P.B. Charan is reading this! The adamant beauty finally relented and agreed on condition that filming should not disturb her studies. They chalked out a friendly schedule for her.
