Dhanush's Naane Varuvean is getting ready for its grand theatrical release on September 29 and the film carries a huge amount of expectations among the fans. The film will have a 4-day opening weekend at the box office and interestingly, it will clash with the highly anticipated Mani Ratnam directorial Ponniyin Selvan which is coming out in theatres on September 30, the next day. According to the information from reliable sources close to the team, it has been confirmed that Naane Varuvean has completed the censor formalities and has been given a U/A certificate by the CBFC. Dhanush also confirmed the same through an official tweet with a new poster. The U/A certification has been given for the film's dark theme and the action that is involved. Apart from writing and directing the film, Selvaraghavan has also played a pivotal character and we got to see a glimpse of it in the newly released teaser. A trailer is likely to be out in the coming week, but an official clarity is awaited.

Naane Varuvean features Indhuja of Meyaadha Maan and Bigil fame and Elli AvrRam as the female leads and has music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Produced by Kalaippuli S Thanu under the banner of V Creations, the film has cinematography handled by Om Prakash and editing by Bhuvan Srinivasan. Naane Varuvean will be Dhanush's fourth release of this year after Maaran, The Gray Man, and Thiruchitrambalam.
