It has been known that Dhanush was teaming up with filmmaker Arun Matheswaran of Saani Kaayidham fame for a period film. The long untitled project was revealed to be Captain Miller, which was officially announced on Saturday (July 1). Both Dhanush and Sathya Jyothi Films (film's producer) shared a short announcement video of the film.
It has been two days since its initial announcement and turns out that the clip has been going around all over social media making an impact on its viewers. So much so that the film went on to smash record by being the most viewed Kollywood announcement video in a matter of 24 hours. Overjoyed by this accomplishment, the Twitter of Sathya Jyothi Pictures shared the poster with a caption that read, "Record Smashing Response for #CaptainMiller Announcement video 🥁🔥 Kollywood's most viewed Announcement video in 24hours with 5.5Million + cumulative Digital Views 💥🎉 ". Written and directed by Arun Matheswaran and produced by Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan under the banner of Sathya Jyothi Films, the film seems to be a historic gangster drama set in the 1950s by the looks of it. The film's exact date of release has not been confirmed yet but we can expect to catch it on the big screen sometime in 2023. The renowned music composer has been roped in to compose the music for the film.
Dhanush most recently starred in Disney+Hotstar's Hindi film Atrangi Re and was last seen in Maaran. He now has Thiruchitrambalam, Naane Varuven, and Vaathi/Sir in his kitty. He is currently awaiting the release of his Hollywood debut The Gray Man, directed by the Russo Brothers of Avengers fame. The film is led by Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans and is scheduled to release on Netflix on 22 July 2022.
