Dev Patel in Hindi remake of Naadodigal?

British-Indian actor Dev Patel, who starred in the Oscar winner Slumdog Millionaire, could in all probability star in the Hindi remake of the recent Tamil blockbuster Naadodigal, directed by Samuthirakkani. Addressing reporters in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, Samuthirakkani said that talks with Dev are underway.

"We are hopeful of signing him up for the lead role in the yet-to-be named Hindi remake of Naadodigal. The Telugu remake will go on the floors next month with Ravi Teja in the lead�and we will start shooting the Kannada remake in December with Puneet in the lead," said Samuthirakkani, who will direct all the three versions.

Naadodigal, starring director-actor Sasikumar, Abhinaya, Ananya, Vijay Vasanth, Bharani and Ganja Karuppu, is running to packed houses at 168 centres in Tamil Nadu. "The total cost of the film was Rs. 7.40 crore. According to the distributors, the film is expected to gross more than Rs. 30 crore when it completes 100 days," he added.

The film revolves around three close friends (Sasikumar), Chandru (Vijay) and Pandi (Bharani), who are willing to kill and even get killed for their friendship. The true test of their friendship comes when Karuna's friend Saravanan seeks their help to marry Prabha (Shanthitheva), the girl he loves. Moved by his emotions, Karuna, Chandru and Pandi decide to unite the lovers and get into serious trouble. What happens next forms the rest of the film.
